Bill of Lading (B/L)
A key transport document issued by the carrier confirming shipment details, cargo ownership, and delivery terms.
Commercial Invoice
Primary trade document used for customs valuation, containing detailed information about the goods being exported or imported.
Import Permit Documentation
Required regulatory permits and approvals depending on the type of imported cargo and destination country regulations.
Certificate of Origin
Official document certifying the country where the goods were manufactured, often required for customs clearance.
Shipping Instruction
Operational document used to provide shipping details to the carrier for accurate preparation of the Bill of Lading.

Incoterms
Understanding Incoterms in International Trade
Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) define the responsibilities of buyers and sellers in global trade, including transportation costs, risk transfer, and customs obligations. Understanding the correct Incoterm helps businesses avoid costly misunderstandings in international shipping agreements.
EXW (Ex Works)
Under EXW, the seller makes the goods available at their premises or another named location. The buyer is responsible for all transportation costs, export procedures, and risks from the point of collection.
FCA (Free Carrier)
With FCA, the seller delivers the goods to a carrier or another party nominated by the buyer at an agreed location. The seller handles export clearance, while the buyer takes responsibility for transportation and risk after delivery to the carrier.
CPT (Carriage Paid To)
Under CPT, the seller pays for the transportation of goods to a specified destination. However, the risk transfers to the buyer once the goods are handed over to the first carrier.
CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid To)
CIP is similar to CPT, but the seller must also provide insurance coverage for the goods during transportation. The risk transfers to the buyer once the goods are delivered to the first carrier.
FAS (Free Alongside Ship)
With FAS, the seller delivers the goods alongside the vessel at the named port of shipment. From that point, the buyer assumes all costs and risks, including loading and ocean freight.
FOB (Free On Board)
Under FOB, the seller is responsible for delivering and loading the goods onto the vessel chosen by the buyer at the port of shipment. Risk transfers to the buyer once the goods are on board the ship.
CFR (Cost and Freight)
With CFR, the seller pays the cost and freight to bring the goods to the destination port. However, the risk transfers to the buyer once the goods are loaded onto the vessel at the port of origin.
CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight)
CIF is similar to CFR, but the seller must also arrange and pay for insurance coverage during the sea transport to the destination port.
DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded)
Under DPU, the seller is responsible for delivering the goods to a specified destination and unloading them. The seller bears all costs and risks until the goods are unloaded at the destination.
DAP (Delivered at Place)
With DAP, the seller delivers the goods to the agreed destination ready for unloading. The buyer is responsible for unloading and handling import duties and customs clearance.
